Nestled at the mouth of the Seine River and preserved from World War II’s destruction, this quaint, old Norman town has managed to retain its charm of yesteryear. The “Old Dock,” narrow jetty houses, museums, and monuments are witness to a rich heritage of art and history.

A walled city on the English Channel, St-Malo suffered widespread destruction during the bombings of World War II, but has since been lovingly restored to its 17th- and 18th-century splendor. The city’s top destination is the citadel, from whence the Corsairs once raided enemy ships in the name of the King. The nearby tidal island and Benedictine abbey of Mont St-Michel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and pilgrimage destination for religious travelers.
